Cry Laugh Animation
	Year: 2022
Role: Lead Animator
	Brief:

The brief for this piece was to create a title sequence for
a comedy special titled “Cry Laugh”. I was tasked with making the design 4K and
was given the color pallet below to base the design on.

Storyboard
Below is my storyboard for this project. I knew I wanted to
work with a 3D design so I could get both detailed close shots and detailed
wide shots. The first design brought in elements from Savannah Georgia where the
comedy special was taking place. Both storyboard options were presented to the client,
and they eventually chose the second option.

	Artist Showcase Video Short
	Year: 2022
Role: Lead Videographer and Editor
During the month of December 2021, I traveled to live with artist and friend Caeden Carvalho. My goal through this
video was to showcase his creativity and authenticity through a tactile editing
style. I also wanted to bring in an analog-style of filming to communicate the “home video” notion the style holds.
Art has the ability to showcase
authenticity, and in this current scape of social media and online personas, there’s
a craving to see genuinely. As Caeden says in the final moments of the video “I
don’t think I’m creative, but I think that’s somewhat relatable.”

The House Of Mirrors

Between March 2021 - August 2021, I moved to Mexico City to live alone and study remotely. During that time I compiled hundreds of street photography images focusing on family life in Mexico City and neighboring towns. This project is a combination of my photography, layout, and motion media skills all coming together to create and sell this personalized photo book of Mexico City culture.

On December 15th I sold out all 35 books and I donated $800 of profits to Mexico City-based charity Fraternidad Sin Fronteras.

	Advertising and Marketing

After laying out the book I worked on marketing through a
planned roll out. The videos were created to be ambiguous and enigmatic—not holding
much information other than the signature worlds “The House of Mirrors” at the
end. I shot most of the footage during my time in Mexico City, mostly in the Metro.
Assisted by marketing major Caeden Carvalho, the roll out below was planned and
then executed between November 20th and December 15. I worked within a Facebook
business profile keeping track of the most
engaged viewers throughout the
process, then pushed content to this target audience through paid
advertisements.

	Brief:

For this piece, I animated the logo for a soft drink brand called “BASK”. The color pallet (animated below) features a plethora of fun, warm and cool tones— so I knew I had to make the most of color play in the design. Additionally, I was tasked with making a design that could be re-edited to be 1080 x 1080, or 1920 x 1080.

	Concept Development
I began by creating two-word lists. This helped guide me when thinking of functional animations that connect to the brand.

	Storyboard
I presented three storyboards to BASK where multiple critiques followed.

	Design 1
After presenting the storyboards, the client wanted to see
the second option and the third option as final renders.

The client expressed concerns with bending the logo and mentioned that this took away from the legibility of the type.
Understood.
The second design would focus heavily on prioritizing the complete legibility of the logo while maintaining a dynamic movement that could capture interest on social media or Tv.

Design 2
For the second design, I wanted to work on creating my own black and white animation to later use as a custom alpha mat.

I started by creating a couple of assets of different sized circles in illustrator then animating them to rise in a way that felt as if they were in a bath of water. I looked at multiple videos of bubbles rising to base this movement off.

I then used the initial animation as a pre-comp and organized a couple of separate larger circles to come in as a final reveal of the logo. I wanted to make the transition last only 2-3 seconds to make sure to capture the viewer, without overloading them with too much motion.

Final ResultI delivered a number of color options of the final design so the client. Although there were a couple of favorites, in the end, we went for the yellow and blue.
