Target Holiday
For Target’s latest holiday campaign, Scholar created a festive world where CG ribbons wrapped around live-action toys in one continuous, dynamic camera move. The spot combined motion control, puppeteered toys, and dimensional animation into a seamless holiday swirl.
I was involved from start to finish—helping pitch and win the job, then designing and animating the ribbon world in Cinema 4D and Redshift. My focus was on bringing Target’s iconic holiday stripes to life in 3D, weaving them through every frame—seamless but dynamic.

Design Frames
I joined the project early on, helping pitch the initial concept during a fast-moving turnaround. Once we landed the job, I shifted into design—developing frames that felt playful, energetic, and unmistakably Target. My goal was to build a visual world that balanced movement with brand clarity. One frame in particular—featuring a ribbon-wrapped air fryer—really resonated with the client and ultimately became the lighting reference for the entire spot.

Ribbon Animation
As part of the "ribbon team," a small group of us in Cinema 4D handled all ribbon animation before handing assets off to Maya through Scholar’s pipeline. Each ribbon had to be built procedurally—not simulated—so it could be easily adjusted for timing, layout, or creative feedback. We worked off a motion control camera move, captured early to bring in live-action later, which meant constant coordination across departments to keep everything aligned
Target Clearance
While we were deep in production on Target’s holiday campaign, Scholar was also awarded a simular campaign “Target Clearance”. The two spots ran in parallel, with shared creative energy and overlapping teams.
Animating Confetti
For clearance, I was tasked with creating vibrant, celebratory confetti animations using X-Particles, adding a playful burst of motion that carried through the brand’s graphic world.
